About

The Geospatial and Farming Systems Research Consortium (GFC) is a part of the Feed the Future - Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab.

Research Focus

  • Identifying current patterns of, and future opportunities for agricultural intensification. Analyzing the determinants of these patterns, and potential future impacts, in the regions (Sub-saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia), and countries of interest (Bangaldesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Tanzania).
  • Understanding the spatial extent of potential, and actual adoption of particular sustainable intensification methods and technologies. Helping to develop strategies for increasing adoption and diffusion of technologies taking into consideration not only agro-ecological conditions, but also market, socio-economic, and environmental conditions and risks.
  • Developing case studies on technology targeting and scaling that will be made available online and used in regional workshops/training courses. Making available all geospatial and farming systems data collected and produced by the projects in an interoperable, online, and open data format. Organizing these materials into interdisciplinary open-access university-level courses.
